Has anyone booked their wedding through Thomas cook?
Hi Nikki
Ay feedback appreciated.
xx
We hopt to book up with Thomas Cook next month for our 2010 wedding. Let me know how you get on with them.- We booked a cheap package holiday for 2 with them as our honeymoon - half board. We're not especially well off and having a month in the Maldives was never a possibility for us! We had a week in Malta and it was wonderful!
We WERE going to marry in Malta but couldnt get the exact type of wedding we wanted. So we got married at our local parish church and had our honeymoon in Malta. We really loved it and we plan to go back!
Sorry, I know this hasn't been much use to you, but I think Thomas Cook do good deals. Also, if you apply for a Thomas Cook credit card, everytime you use it, you're getting credits towards your next holiday, making it cheaper! You can use the card to do your ordinary shopping with as well as buying holidays and stuff!
Bamba xx - Hey, we booked our wedding through Thomas Cook and got married in mexico on 14th April this year at Aventura Spa Palace. They told me I was dealing with a wedding specialist, but to be honest she wasn't able to answer most of our questions (We only had a simple wedding bear in mind)..
So from experience I would say that the booking of the holiday and wedding, (which was free - keep an eye out for deals, there are lots) was fine, but if you want to know the finer details like costs of extras, whats available for menus, cakes etc, choose your hotel and email the wedding planner directly (email the hotel from their web page)
This was the simplest and most accurate way of geeting up to date info. before we went I knew exactly how much any extras were, what was and wasn't included and could give the planner time to get us exactly what we wanted.
The wedding and holiday was amazing and the hotel itself was stunning, we can't wait to save up enough again to go back!I would recommend getting married abroad to anyone, we had a wonderful time at half the price of a wedding at home.
Hope this helps, - Hi Nikki
There has been alot of bad feedback about tour operators on here - forgive me if I'm wrong but a recent thread is about someone cancelling with Thomas Cook?
I personally haven't booked with a tour operator as did lots of research and tour operators didn't come up smelling of roses to say the least.
The only other experience I have is that a very good friend of mine booked her wedding through a tour operator (its not Thomas Cook but a very big one) and it was a disaster - they just didn't know what they were doing from the flowers to the cake and all sorts of other things even down to them even trying to change her date and time 2 days before!
It was only all of us guests who sorted it out in the end. We ended up decorating her venue (something which was supposed to be included) collecting the cake and even re-doing her flowers as they weren't what she had ordered
It turned out ok in the end but me and my partner were driving around like lunatics a few hours before picking things up and I ended up putting my makeup & getting changed in the venues toilets!
She was in tears all the way through getting ready and was really stressed something which should have and could have been avoided
Sorry to be negative & I know its not Thomas Cook but I just felt a local co-ordinator has to earn a good reputation so must be spot on - a tour operator is paid nethertheless.
I'm not totally against T/C only yesterday I landed from a week in Greece with T/C and can say I can't fault them one iota
Shell x - I ordered my Wedding package from Thomas Cook and they said it would be 2 weeks before delivery! That was near on 8 weeks ago!!!
But Apart from this small hitch that they are trying to sort, they have been fantastic and we have used them before and never had a problem, Hopefully it is just this small matter and that it will arrive any day now! I will let you all know how it goes!
Any more info would be greatfully received x - Hi nicci
ive booked through thomson and to be fair i received my wedding confirmation and package 2 weeks after booking like they said.
I have had to call the wedding team many times as my fiancee is french, so not as straight forward as if his documents were in english but they do follow up any queries as they promise .
Im also in contact with the wedding planner in greece ad she has been fantastic .
I think its with anything some people have good experiences and some bad.
good luck x - Hi Nicci,
Ive booked my Santorini wedding through Thomas Cook and I havent had any problems at all. although it seems that Im the exception reading some of the posts. Ive yet to send my translated documents to them but we've dealt with the same lady from the time we booked a year ago and she calls and keep us updated regularly. The only negative for me is we dont find out the exact date till we get there but its not too big a problem. It is important to check the small print though so that you know what comes with the wedding package as they differ from country to country and even sometimes from resort to resort. we have to pay extra for cake and photos but it still works out thousand cheaper than a wedding over here and thats with a reception at home when we get back. I can probably give you more info over the next couple of weeks when we start to deal with the document side of things. let me know. Good luck whatever you decide to do.
